EPL Matchweek 18: A review

One thing is confirmed in the Premier League. Nobody is king in the Football. It is a cyclic process. Similarly the Gameweek 18 of EPL had everything. Shock results, multiple goal thrillers, a red card and scintillating start to a new era. The title race is well and truly on.

Manchester United, on paper, holds the quality to surpass even the best of teams and challenge for silverware each time they set footing on the field. But, this hasn’t been the case in this season. Finally, Mourinho was sacked and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was appointed as caretaker manager. People were not certain about the things. But, the fans were displayed a game of free-flowing attacking football which was a feature that was clearly missing in the Mourinho’s time. With Paul Pogba back in the heart of midfield, the French man did show his worth. His array of skills and his shooting prowess turned out to quite a test for the Cardiff defence.

Manchester City were stunned by Crystal Palace

A matchup between Burnley and Arsenal was battle between a top 4 an a team that is placed in the relegation zone of the Premier League table. This was not something that was considered a herculean task for the Gunners.

Crystal Palace stunning the Manchester City was the biggest upset of the weekend. Crystal Palace were more clinical with their finishes and fought really hard to get their much-deserved win. But the brand of football which is associated with Manchester City had made some believe that the game would be won rather easily. In the other match, Chelsea were stunned by Leicester City courtesy of Vardy’s goal in the 31st minute.

Also, the league leaders Liverpool, went much clear in the table after they defeated the Wolves by a score of 2-0. Salah’s goal has heated up the golden boot race in the Premier League.
