Manchester United vs Watford: Match Preview

Manchester United will return to the Premier League action on Saturday against Watford after an international break. The Red Devils returned to the winning ways after they defeated Burnley by a margin of 2-0 in their previous fixture. After their average start to the Premier League, Manchester United are expected to come roaring and make their presence felt. Jose Mourinho’s side have conceded seven goals till now and six came off in their two outings against Brighton and Tottenham Spurs.

On the other hand, the high flying Watford are in the third place in the 20-team league table and will be expecting to continue their fine run. Watford is expected to present a difficult challenge for the Old Trafford based outfit as they are one of the three clubs along Chelsea and Liverpool who have 100% victory rate in the Premier League 2018/19.

Since his appointment, Javi Garcia has lost only once at Vicarage Road. However, the history books read in United’s favor, though, with United winning 14 of their last 15 games against Watford in a run that extends back to 1987. The only loss came in September 2016 when United lost 3-1.

Team News:

Luke Shaw suffered a concussion for England against Spain last weekend and Jose Mourinho has ruled him out of the game against Watford. Ashley Young is expected to fill in at left-back position. Marcus Rashford was sent off in the win at Turf Moor, picking up the three-game suspension, and will not be involved.

Mourinho said that both Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera are injury concerns.

“Fellaini is a doubt. Ander Herrera is out. He had one little problem in one medical in training during the week, so he is also a doubt,” the United manager said.

Until now, Watford does not have any injury concerns compared to that of Manchester United.

Match Prediction:

Manchester United are expected to continue their fine run. However, Watford will not give up so easily at Vicarage Road and are supposed to put up a gritty performance against the Red Devils.  Hence, Sportsanlayst prediction is Manchester United to win 2-0 at Vicarage Road.
