Mourinho is under increasing pressure at United to steer the club in the right direction after a defeat to Brighton last week. United have three points from their opening two Premier League games, and Mourinho’s mood is at an all-time low at the club.
The Portuguese was not happy with Manchester United’s transfer business in the summer as his demand to bring in a quality centre-back and a high-quality winger was not met. Also knowing they are facing Pochettino’s Spurs this weekend the pressure would be immense on the Portuguese to deliver positive results for the fans. Also, the reports of tension between club star Pogba and him only add fire to this burning speculation of the manager to be sacked.
So, let’s take a look at the potential replacements for the United’s current manager Jose Mourinho.
1) Zinedine Zidane
After having a successful 3-year spell at the Santiago Bernabeu with an all-star team Real Madrid and leading them to glory at the European stage for three consecutive years and also domestic fame in the middle, winning the heavily contested La Liga title. He resigned this summer for the managerial post. And according to the reports suggest, the Frenchman has told his friends that he is expecting an offer from Manchester United United for the top job in coming months.
He also made it clear that he is interested in the role should it be made available this season. Well looking at the messy situation at United, the Frenchman is the figure they should be looking to get their house in order.
According to the pundit, Charlie Nicholas, Manchester United will be keen on getting Mauricio Pochettino to replace Jose Mourinho if the Tottenham manager leads his side to victory over the Red Devils on Monday.
There was always speculation in the past with Pochettino to take over at The Theatre of Dreams. United’s Greatest manager to date Sir Alex Ferguson himself is a great admirer of his work. Pochettino is one of the youngest and finest tacticians in the modern-day football, although Spurs are still renowned bottlers and underachievers. He has made them into one of the best playing teams in the past year or two. Looking at England’s World Cup squad the most players were from the spurs.
Pochettino ticks plenty of boxes for United. He is still only 46, uncontroversial, improve teams, preaches attacking the football and places emphasis on youth. Looking at the youth prospects Manchester United United have in Rashford, Martial, Angel Gomes etc., Argentine would be the ideal candidate.
3) Joachim Loew
According to the ESPN pundit, Shaka Hislop Jose Mourinho will not see out this season at the club if the same disappointing performance continues in the upcoming matches. He also reckons that the German Boss Joachim Low is the only manager who could take over United from Mourinho.
Loew who packs a great profile including the World Cup 2014 and winning the Confederations Cup with a young inexperienced German squad in 2017 would not be a disappointment for the Manchester United fans. Loew is known for his quick possession-based attacking style of play which will suit United. Given the strength of the midfield, with the likes of Pogba, Matic and Fred and having quick wingers to open up space with having a wall named De Gea behind them united could possibly become title contenders.
